World of Hyatt
World of Hyatt is putting empathy into action. Due to the continual interest from the World of Hyatt program members to “pay it forward,” World of Hyatt is collaborating with No Barriers USA and AFAR Media to support the Learning AFAR program designed to inspire transformational learning. Students who might not otherwise have the chance will be given a life-changing experience designed to help them better understand themselves and the world around them.
World of Hyatt, in collaboration with generous donations from W.O.H. members, is supporting eleven Chicago Public School students to participate in an immersive 4-6 month program that teaches students how to overcome obstacles, live a life of purpose and give back to the world, culminating in a 10-day expedition to Costa Rica. Students will explore the country’s unique culture while fostering personal growth and leadership skills, enabling them to see what is possible in their lives and how they can contribute their best to the world. Upon their return, students will have the opportunity to share what they’ve learned from this transformative expedition with their peers and be a force for positive change in their own communities.

Courtesy of World of Hyatt and its generous members, this fully funded Learning AFAR Costa Rica expedition will enable eleven passionate and committed students in the Chicago Public School system to experience the No Barriers Life and give back to their own communities as leaders who serve.
This city has so much more to offer and I want to prove that. I want to be able to make a change in the way people look at my city. I hope to create a change in the world and help people look beyond the established stereotypes. Rigor, determination, and compassion are all traits that I possess.
Three qualities I carry are leadership, ambition, and compassion. I try to take the initiative for those who feel uncomfortable doing so and bringing them to that comfortable, open point. I am ambitious because I dream big and aim for personal achievement. I plan to become something.
I am a very compassionate, adventurous, and open-minded person. I acknowledge that much of the Costa Rica trip will focus on humanitarian work, which excites me more than anything. I believe I am a very compassionate person. It is a dream of mine to develop a non-profit organization that focuses on humanitarian work.
